New Season Letter

Dear Parent/Guardian

As we have now ended the 2017/18 season I wanted to take the opportunity to give you an update on progress the club has made this year, I did cover some of this at the recent presentation day but wanted to write to you all in case you were unable to make the day to explain the club structure and how we will continue to invest in the development of Alphington Youth Football Club.

We will be running 11 youth teams from Under 7’s through to Under 18’s. There is no change to the structure on the youth teams, however we welcome our new Under 7’s Manager – Shaun Lyne-Ley back to the football club.

We are a FA Charter Standard Community Club, the highest status for an amateur football club and we continue to focus on the having the best standards of coaching in Devon, as such will continue operate as part of the FA Coach Mentor Programme, supporting managers/coaches in gaining experience and knowledge in developing young players and we pride ourselves on having the best qualified coaching structure in local youth football clubs.

You will have also seen considerable investment in Alphington Youth FC during the past season:

Nike Club Partnership
o At the start of 2017/18 season we embarked on a partnership with Nike which saw every youth team in all age groups have a new home/away kit and will continue to invest in kit on a regular basis to ensure all players representing Alphington have the very best kit possible.
Exwick Hub – 3G
o During the last season we have seen the culmination of 18 months hard work come together to provide the very best training facilities in the South West for our youth players. The new 3G facility at Exwick Hub means that the players get the very best development opportunity and all our teams have already experienced playing on this new surface.
Presentation Days
o We have a long tradition of recognition within the Alphington Youth FC and we continue to provide the very best presentation days to recognise the progress all the players make within their team, trophies, certificates, raffle prizes and lunch is provided for the children free of charge and we will continue to develop this moving forward, especially with our Nike partnership, as you have all seen this year.

In order to continue to invest in providing the best coaching, facilities and equipment for all the youth teams we have taken the time to review our fees structure moving forward. We can only run a successful club through the payment of these fees and we will continue to collect the fees through our website

http://www.alphingtonafc.com/payments

We want to move towards a simple and straight forward approach to fees, we have therefore taken the decision to remove the Signing-On Fee, which was previously £25, paid at the start of the season.

Given the investment in the children’s and club’s development I have previously mentioned, as well as the normal ongoing operating costs of Pitches, Devon FA & League Affiliation, Insurance, Equipment, Membership to the Sports Club to name a few, we have taken the decision to increase the Monthly Subs to £20 per month, starting 1st of September 2018 and paid over 12 months, every year, ongoing.

As a committee we feel that this continues to represent great value for money given the time, coaching, facilities, playing kit, equipment, recognition events that we provide for all children and given that we have removed the signing-on fee, this means a net increase of just £6 per month. We appreciate that this fee has changed over the last couple of seasons, however we are also making a commitment to hold this fee rate for the next few years at least, the club will also cease the collection of the previous subscription following last payment in August.

As mentioned above this will be collected through our website, please use the link above 1) Click buy product, 2) Search for child you are paying for, 3) Complete the Direct Debit form and consents.............this will then start on 1st September.

There has also been some structure changes agreed within the football club, which will mean that Alphington FC (Adults) 1st, 2nd and 3rd Team, Under 18’s, Ladies and Veterans will come together with Alphington Youth FC to operate under one Alphington FC structure and I am delighted to have been asked to lead the football club as Chairman in this new era.

I hope you and your children have an enjoyable summer, pre-season will be here shortly.

With kind regards
